About Belmont Golf Course

Belmont is one of Richmond’s most storied pieces of golf ground. The A.W. Tillinghast–designed layout in Henrico famously hosted the 1949 PGA Championship, won by Sam Snead. In 2021 the historic course was reimagined by the First Tee and the USGA into a more accessible, community-focused facility.

The Layout

Today Belmont plays as a 12-hole regulation course paired with a par-3 short course — designed to make the game faster, more affordable, and more welcoming for players of every age and ability, while preserving the property’s Tillinghast character and mature trees.

Playing Belmont

As a public, county-run facility, Belmont is open to all and is a favorite for quick rounds, family golf, lessons, and beginners getting into the game close to the city.
